JOHOR BAHRU: Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman says Malaysia will have political stability until July 2023 when Parliament automatically dissolves if the opposition wins the Johor polls.

In urging Larkin voters to vote for Muda, he said Barisan Nasional was the source of political instability and would push for elections in other states if it wins in Johor.

“If the opposition wins in Johor, we’ll have stability until July next year, when Parliament has to be dissolved. Because if Umno loses in Johor, they won’t dare to dissolve another state legislative assembly,” he said in Muda’s final ceramah in Larkin tonight.

The former youth and sports minister said it was peculiar how Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman had criticised his own party’s deputy president, Mohamad Hasan, in the Dewan Rakyat last week over the Umno number two’s constant calls for a snap general election.

Syed Saddiq pointed to that as an example of the political instability that Umno wrought.

Johor goes to the polls tomorrow, with Muda contesting in its maiden election with seven candidates fielded.

It will also clash with Anwar Ibrahim’s PKR in Larkin, after seat negotiations between the two opposition parties failed. - FMT
