Amanah Youth has clapped back at former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's claim that voters should punish Pakatan Harapan for putting incompetent "cap ayam" ministers in charge of Putrajaya.
The youth wing's communications director Azam Mektar (above) said it was actually BN that had a "fowl" reputation.
"Today's government is led by BN with Perikatan Nasional that has failed to control the prices of chicken, cooking oil, and the daily necessities of the rakyat.
"This is the real ‘cap ayam’ government even though it has more than 70 ministers and deputy ministers," Azam said in a statement today.
The price of poultry had risen since last year as the cost of production increased, largely due to pricier grain feed which is mostly imported.
In response to this, the government has implemented price control mechanisms - which have been extended to June 30.
Najib made the swipe at Harapan during the BN convention in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Azam claimed Najib's 'cap ayam' remarks were in response to a demonstration Amanah Youth held in front of Sogo in Kuala Lumpur recently over poultry prices, in which they used the same label against the government.
He said that if the government does not resolve the problem soon, Amanah Youth would stage an even larger protest.
He also called for Parliament to convene so that bread and butter issues can be debated. - Mkini
