YOURSAY | Zuraida loses more trust with each party hopped

YOURSAY | ‘Four years and three different political parties?’

Zuraida quits Bersatu, joins Parti Bangsa Malaysia

BusinessFirst: What I find disturbing is the sheer dishonesty.

When Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin was in PKR, she was undermining the party from within. There were "accusations" about her loyalty but she denied them. It turned out to be true and later she was one of those who brought down the government she was a part of.

Then, there were allegations she would be joining Bersatu. Again, she denied it. But this was again true, as later she joined Bersatu.

Even more recently, while within Bersatu, there were rumours that Party Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) was going to be her vehicle and that she and some of the PKR frogs would be joining. She again denied it. Now presto! She is joining PBM.

Who can trust her? With all this politicking, no wonder, despite the rise in palm oil prices, Malaysia is not positioned to benefit from it because of a lack of engagement with buyers and producers.

How to concentrate on her day job as plantation industries and commodities minister which she has been paid to do when she is playing politics and jumping from here and there? Four years and three different political parties?

I am sure that PBM will try to be the next PKR. I suppose it is a good move since MCA and MIC have lost credibility.

A clash with PKR would allow, in theory, Umno to win with split votes. However, despite the fall in support for PKR and PKR president Anwar Ibrahim's poor leadership, in my view, PKR will still thrash PBM in any head-to-head clash.

Considering how poorly regarded PKR is, it says a lot about PBM, does it not?

I think the 15th general election will be good. Even if BN comes back, at least it will clear the trash from the opposition to place them in a better position for the 16th general election.

Maybe by then the rakyat will come to their senses and vote for honesty and competence instead of based on race or religion.

OrangePanther1466: Expect International Trade and Industry Minister Azmin Ali to be following Zuraida soon.

PBM was set up with all the Sheraton Move players from PKR. People like Segamat MP Edmond Santhara can now be full-fledged members of PBM rather than associate wing chief of Bersatu.

It would be pointless to continue vilifying Azmin, Zuraida and their cohorts. The Pakatan Harapan government had the odds stacked heavily against them from the start - from the "deep state" that exists in the civil service to Umno-PAS's concerted effort to stymie every initiative by the then government.

The Sheraton Move was just the climax of problems brewing since the 14th general election. I think despite their best efforts, former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad knew (and I suspect the Harapan top guns too) that the party was over.

PBM is also a multiracial party like PKR, so it would be ideal for the losing candidates of the current PKR elections to abandon PKR, which has all along been a party to serve opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.

Let all the political players settle down in their respective parties so that they can then focus on the bigger picture of where they see the country heading.

At the end of the day, it must be about the people and society we live in, and the values and ethics we uphold. All opposition political parties must work hard to find common ground to ensure we get a governing framework or coalition we can all live with post-GE15.

6th Generation Immigrant: Zuraida said, "I am very attracted to its (PBM’s) core principles of multiracial engagement, women empowerment, youth empowerment, economic development, education and the advancement of science and technology as elements to make Malaysia a developed country" and so on, to justify her party-hopping again and of course, with an opportunity to be re-elected in GE15.

Whether she was in PKR or Bersatu, she practised none of the above-quoted values. On the contrary, she abused all of them.

Specialist Opening Batsman: Well, the parliamentary constituency of Ampang looks set to attract multiple candidates in the coming general election. It is an urban seat with well-informed voters.

The incumbent MP, Zuraida, is on course to even lose the deposit. Ampang voters cannot and will not tolerate traitors.

To the current disgraceful MP for Ampang, my advice is to make hay while the sun shines. The day of reckoning for your betrayal is near.

Undecided: "I see a lot of potential in PBM, especially at a time when Malaysians are tired of the old politics, which stifle the progress of the country,” said Zuraida.

Funny, isn't she? Zuraida is part and parcel of the old politics. She puts her self-interest first, betrays those who voted for her party, and abandons her principles by collaborating with parties which pay lip service to multiracialism to seize power.

Doc: Our political frogs are evolving. Usually, they jump after the elections after being enticed by the political parties from the other side of the fence or being harassed by the MACC. These days they jump even before the elections.

It was revealed on May 25 that Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz is an Umno member. Today Zuraida is jumping to PBM. I am sure there are more to come.

Kilimanjaro: A rolling stone gathers no moss. And this "rolling stone" cut off her nose to spite her face.

People are not going to be so forgiving for being a traitor and being part of the group that brought down an elected government.

During the Sheraton Move, she chose and went for a ‘Malay’ government and now wants us to believe that she is for a multiracial one. Does she take us for fools? - Mkini
