PETALING JAYA: Assessment taxes within the Ipoh city council (MBI) limits have been reduced by between 0.25% and 2%, depending on the type of property.
Ipoh mayor Rumaizi Baharin @ Daud said the Perak executive council approved the new valuation list for rateable properties within the city council area on Dec 11, including a reduction in the assessment tax rates.
The new list was published in the Perak government gazette today.
Rumaizi said MBI had conducted several engagement sessions, including one on Nov 12 attended by about 900 residents or property owners, to review the matter.
A session was also held with assemblymen and MPs within the city council’s jurisdiction on Nov 26, Bernama quoted him as saying.
He also said the council held an engagement session with the Perak branches of the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers, the Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Indian Chamber of Commerce, and the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Dec 18. - FMT
