Wanita Bersatu lodges police reports nationwide against Yeoh

Free Malaysia Today
Wanita Bersatu vice-chief Nolee Ashilin Radzi called for the government to ban Hannah Yeoh’s book and sack her from the Cabinet.

PETALING JAYA
Bersatu women’s wing says it has lodged police reports in every state against youth and sports minister Hannah Yeoh over a statement in her book.

The wing claimed that the DAP leader made an evangelical Christian statement in the book titled “Becoming Hannah: A Personal Journey”.

Nolee Ashilin Radzi, the Wanita vice-chief, said that Yeoh’s lawsuit against the former inspector-general of police Musa Hassan was an indication of a potential “Christianisation agenda”.

She added that this could affect social harmony and violate Islam’s position in Malaysia as the religion of the Federation as enshrined in the Federal Constitution.

Nolee also urged the authorities to ban the book and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to sack Yeoh from the Cabinet.

On Monday, the Kuala Lumpur High Court dismissed a defamation suit Yeoh filed against Musa regarding a statement made at a forum at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) four years ago.

The disputed statement allegedly accused Yeoh of writing her book to make Malaysia a Christian nation, destroy Islam and the country, and place her personal interests above that of the nation’s.

Judicial commissioner Arziah Apandi dismissed the suit on the grounds that Yeoh had failed to prove her claim on a balance of probabilities.

Arziah said Musa’s speech at a UiTM forum on Jan 30, 2020 did not specifically refer to Yeoh, and that many of his remarks referred to other people. Yeoh and her lawyers have filed an appeal with the Court of Appeal.

Yesterday, Dang Wangi police confirmed receiving seven reports against Yeoh for the alleged proselytising elements in her book and said it was investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, the Segambut MP was reported to have said that she would lodge police reports against “malicious” videos and messages insinuating that she is out to convert Muslims to Christianity or is working towards turning Malaysia into a Christian nation. - FMT
