N9 polls: Candidates visit early voting centres as process proceeds smoothly

 

In Jelebu, Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Pertang seat, Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias took time to inspect the early voting process at the Jelebu IPD at 8am.

SEREMBAN: Candidates contesting in the Negeri Sembilan State Election today took the opportunity to observe the early voting process at several polling centres statewide, which proceeded smoothly this morning.

In Port Dickson, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, who is also the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Linggi seat, visited the Port Dickson District Police Headquarters (IPD) to observe the early voting process there.

Aminuddin, who arrived at 9am, also greeted police officers and personnel who were carrying out their duties as early voters.

"Alhamdulillah, this morning we saw that many voters have come forward to fulfil their responsibilities, and I would like to express my appreciation to the police here for ensuring that the democratic process can be carried out smoothly," he told reporters.

Meanwhile, in Jelebu, the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Pertang seat, Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias, also took time to inspect the early voting process at the Jelebu IPD at around 8am.

He also exchanged pleasantries with those present.

Meanwhile, at the Negeri Sembilan Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK), Election Commission (EC) deputy chairman Dr Azmi Sharom was also present to observe the early voting process involving 979 police officers and personnel for the Temiang seat.

BN Temiang seat candidate Leaw Kok Chan also took time to greet early voters among the police personnel at the centre.

As of 9.30am, clear weather conditions in most parts of Negeri Sembilan also facilitated the movement of voters and EC personnel, thus contributing to the smooth running of the early voting process.

Based on forecasts by the Malaysian Meteorological Department, the weather in almost the entire state is expected to remain clear in the morning, although thunderstorms are forecast in several areas in the afternoon.

A total of 38 early voting centres opened at 8 am today to enable 22,339 early voters, comprising 16,884 military personnel and their spouses, as well as 5,455 police personnel and their spouses to cast their ballots.

The early voting centres will close in stages between noon and 5 pm, depending on the location and the number of registered voters.

The election involves 889,490 registered voters who will elect representatives for the 36 seats in the State Legislative Assembly. —BERNAMA
