Kedah Menteri Besar Sanusi Nor has issued a letter of demand to Selangor PKR election director Dr Sathia Prakash Nadarajan for misquoting him in a recent video remark.
Sathia's remark was in response to Sanusi's election speech in Negeri Sembilan, in which Sanusi (above) said while Malays only have Tanah Melayu, the Chinese and Indians have China and India, respectively.
Selangor PKR election director Dr Sathia Prakash Nadarajan In a Facebook statement, Sanusi warned that there are many more on the list whose claims are "commensurate with their own intentions and motives" and who will also be receiving similar letters.
"I hope this serves as a lesson to everyone," Sanusi said.
Police have opened an investigation paper into a video clip showing a man alleging that a political party controls the Negeri Sembilan royal institution.
State police chief Alzafny Ahmad reportedly said that the investigation paper was opened under Section 4A(1) of the Election Offences Act 1954, Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
Berita Harian reported Alzafny saying in a statement that investigations are ongoing to examine the full contents of the video, as well as the context of the remarks made.
Wisma Putra confirmed that a Malaysian citizen died following an incident in South Korea on July 26. It said South Korean authorities are investigating the case.
Due to the ongoing probe and the family's privacy, no further details about the deceased or the incident's circumstances would be disclosed.
In a statement, it said the Malaysian embassy in Seoul is in close contact with the deceased's next of kin and the relevant authorities, and is providing consular assistance, including with documentation, funeral arrangements and the repatriation of the remains.
It added that other Malaysians are also involved in the ongoing investigation, and that the embassy will continue to obtain verified information while extending appropriate consular assistance in accordance with South Korean law.
According to media reports, the man was killed during a street brawl involving foreigners in South Korea's North Chungcheong Province. The South Korean police have reportedly detained another Malaysian man to assist in the investigation.
A disciplinary investigation paper has been opened against 12 officers and personnel allegedly involved in the extortion of RM2 million from a Vanuatu national.
Bernama reported Bukit Aman's Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (Jips) director, Aida Abdul Hamid, saying the disciplinary action was initiated in parallel with an ongoing investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
She said the Jips’ probe would examine integrity-related aspects to establish whether the officers had breached the code of conduct under the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993, based on the outcome of the CID investigation.
"Jips will also examine weaknesses in supervision and the possibility of abuse of power, ethical violations or misconduct that could tarnish the image of the police," she reportedly said yesterday. - Mkini
