SHAH ALAM: A woman in her 50s was injured after her car crashed into a kuih shop in Leboh Bangau, Taman Berkeley, yesterday evening.
The incident occurred after she had finished shopping and returned to her vehicle, which was parked in front of the shop.
North Klang police chief Assistant Commissioner Ramsay Embol said initial investigations revealed the driver accidentally engaged the forward gear before stepping on the accelerator.
"As a result, her vehicle surged forward and crashed into the kuih shop, striking a female shop assistant in her 30s," he said in a statement.
Ramsay said both the driver and the shop assistant were taken to separate private hospitals for treatment.
The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act for careless and inconsiderate driving, which carries a maximum fine of RM15,000 and up to a year in jail upon conviction.
