Come April 28, there will be a ‘green tsunami’ in a sea of yellow when Himpunan Hijau 3.0 takes to the streets to join the Bersih 3.0 rally.
Announcing details of the rally today, Himpunan president Wong Tack (right) said supporters of five green groups will converged at 12 noon at the iconic Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) park before marching about 3km to the Dataran Merdeka - the venue for Bersih rally.
Bersih 3.0, which has urged its supporters to wear yellow, plans to have a sit-in at 2pm at Dataran Merdeka in the demand for clean and fair elections.
Wong said Kuantan residents are facing a "critical moment of life and death" as the Lynas Advance Materials Plant (Lamp) is bound to commence its operations soon.
"We have shouted and yelled enough. On our side, the decision is final. We want Lynas to get out of Malaysia." he said.

Wong is confident that this third installation of “green protest” since Oct 9 last year will attract “tens of thousands of people” to turn KL into sea of green and yellow, which are the trademark colours for Himpunan Hijau and Bersih, respectively.
The Himpunan protesters will don green T-shirts with yellow badges, he added.
Explaining the decision to join forces with Bersih, Wong said the two groups share the common objective in “cleanliness”.
“In order to have a green environment we need a clean government… but the government we have now is non-functioning and is riddled with corruption.
“Thus, if the government can no longer carry out the mandate entrusted to them, then we must go all out to remove them,” he said.
Explaining the decision to join forces with Bersih, Wong said the two groups share the common objective in “cleanliness”.

Not asking for permission
When asked about potential police hindrance to the march, Wong stressed that the enforcement officials must conduct their duties professionally.
“It’s not (the question of) allowing or not allowing (the procession). People want to express their voices, it is guaranteed under our constitution, the principle of Earth Charter and the principle of United Nations.
“That’s their duty to ensure all these can be carried out peacefully, we are not asking for permission,” he added.
The press conference was also attended by several civil groups, namely Save Teluk Rubiah, Perak, Raub Anti-Cyanide Committee, Save Rawang Committee, Selangor, and Preserve Jalan Sultan Committee, Kuala Lumpur.
Meanwhile, responding to Lynas’ claims that an ouster of the refinery plant will affect local suppliers, Preserve Jalan Sultan Committee co-chairman Stanley Yong branded the claim as “whole lot of bullshit”.
“The suppliers only form a small segment of the Kuantan population. If they have been told of the kind of nightmare we will face should Lynas started operations, I suppose they will probably run away (from the project) as well.
“It is just a small tactic employed by Lynas and the state government to tell us to cool down, but we can’t cool down,” Yong said.
He claimed that a Denmark company has decided to pull out from supplying chemical materials to Lynas after learning about the local sentiments against it.
“It’s not (the question of) allowing or not allowing (the procession).
