PSM: We'll fare better with own logo
Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) will not be borrowing PKR or DAP's logo during the coming general election.
Party secretary-general S Arutchelvan said PSM believes that unlike the previous polls, the party believes that it stands a better chance of winning with its own logo.
However, PSM will adopt Pakatan Rakyat's logo, should the coalition decide to use one during the next general election.
Arutchelvan (left) said that PSM had been working the ground over the past few years with its own logo and it should be recognisable enough.
"Even in the 2008 general election, we did not hide behind PKR's logo, we campaigned with PSM's logo side-by-side," he said during a press conference today.
In the past, PSM candidates had stood under a DAP ticket before 2008, which saw them standing under a PKR ticket and scoring their first victory in Parliament and in the Selangor state legislative assembly.
In 2008, PSM was not allowed to have its own logo on the ballot slip because it was yet to be registered.
Six months after the March 2008 elections, PSM was finallyregistered as a political party by the Registrar of Societies (RoS) after a 10-year struggle.
Although PSM is allied with Pakatan, it has chosen not to be an official component of the coalition.
