PDRM's double standard in mooning student arrest

YOURSAY 'Actions like these only reinforce to the rakyat that a regime change is the only solution'.

Student nabbed over mooning incident

your sayJayden Wong: Since you are finally doing your work, what are you going to do about the previous cases in Penang, where Perkasa members carried out a funeral ritual with a photograph CM Lim Guan Eng (LGE)?

What are you going to do with the ex-army personnel who had a ‘buttock dance' in front of Bersih co-chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan's house? What are you going to do with the Perkasa members who stopped Anwar Ibrahim from giving a speech recently?

Do you have an explanation as to why no actions were taken and are those cases not subjected to the same laws that you are investigating the mooning episode under?

Artchan: Maybe we can use the "bright future" and "this would not serve public interest" defence, and let him go free.

Cantabrigian: Call it disrespectful or immoral, but such act does not amount to a crime that requires police investigation.

The authority is using police just to cover their ‘em-bare-ass-ment' when the youths dared to stand up against a failed government.

X123581321: What about the thugs with a kerambit (sickle), stones and shoes who stormed a mosque in Kedah knowing the leader of Malaysia's parliamentary opposition was inside. Have they been arrested for disturbing the peace?

Vgeorgemy: If police had acted against Malay right-wingers on their disgusting actions against certain leaders of the nation, this could have been averted. We have no choice but defend this student due to the selective prosecution and racist action of police.

Onyourtoes: This is just youthful exuberance that went out of control, something like that national bowler or that electrician from Penang who went out of control with someone's underage daughters.

I am sure we must find a space in our hearts to forgive and forget. You know, he is young and probably had one glass too many. Now, compare this with those old braggarts who stepped on LGE's photo and placing bereavement flowers around his photo.

I think the intention was more evil and calculative. But of course, police action will be swift and quick on this young man, while no further action will be taken on those braggarts.

Have all right-minded Malaysians found our reason yet why we dislike this regime so much?

NuckinFuts: That should teach him not to disrespect our dear leaders - Rosmah Mansor and PM Najib Abdul Razak's photographs ought to be given full respect.

The pictures are national treasures and should be framed up and worshipped at home and at work. Mooning should only be performed by experienced ex-army personnel, not by the nation's youth.

Changeagent: I am really encouraged to know that PDRM can be so efficient when they choose to be. Pity though that this kind of efficiency is always directed at opposition figures or sympathisers only.

Armageddon: The keyword is bare. If it (the buttock) is not bared, then it is okay, just like what the army officers did to Ambiga. We sure have a very "flexible" law.

Joseph Lee: When the courts can forgive a paedophile rapist, how can PDRM be so mean? The PDRM has time and again proven themselves to be Umno's jaga (guardian).

And PDRM, what about arresting those hoodlums who tore Koh Tsu Koon's photo and stepped on it while he was chief minister?

Truth Unfold: Burning of effigies and burning of photographs, butt exercise by ex-servicemen who took oath to be loyal to the country and the king, isn't that seditious? Is this the kind of servicemen our armed forces produce.

Funeral ceremony outside LGE's house must also be investigated. Why the double standards? They should be ashamed of themselves, wearing the uniforms and calling themselves "setia kepada raja dan negara" (loyal to king and country)

Please be neutral and fair when you pledge to the king and country, and when passing off as armed forces personnel. Don't practice double standards and be a running dog to certain politicians.

Good men: What is the crime that he has committed? So many snatch thefts, robberies, burglaries, carjackings, murders and organised crime, yet, we don't see PDRM being as efficient.

Rayfire: I see. All of a sudden, these "crimes" have become top priority for our cops. Please use all the resources to go after real criminals. Don't think false statistics can help resolve that.
Geronimo: "The police are reported to be investigating the mooning incident under section 509 of the Penal Code, which related to a word or gesture intended to insult the modesty of a person."

Then what about those so-called army veterans who showed their butts and did a crude dance in front of Ambiga's house in May. Ambiga's modesty has been insulted and yet nothing was done.

Blackknight: I echo the sentiment of other Malaysiakini readers that PDRM's action reeks with discrimination, especially in their inaction over LGE and Ambiga's cases. What else can we expect from these Umno dogs who are grossly overpaid with our hard-earned money.

Anonymous #72737246: If the youths are still uncertain about the country's direction, I hope this will be an eye-opener to them. Change is the only way. - Malaysiakini
