Let us forget about being polite and politically correct for a moment. There is no room for window dressing so let us just call a spade, a spade.
DAP and PAS, can you please get your act together? Or do you want to risk becoming a windfall for your political opponents?
Lately, DAP and PAS through their mouthpiece leaders and or self-anointed spokespersons have been doing uncalled for damage to their parties in the attempt to negate one another in so far as political ideologies go.
It is strange too. Each time as we edge gingerly close to national polls day, this spanner labeled as religion (in this case HUDUD), is thrown into the monkeys’ (politicians) cage. And the outcome is most damaging to both these two parties but a sure blessing for BN.
Question is why? Do you leaders not learn from experience?
New govt must show it can TRANSFORM Malaysia
The country is desperately fighting the tides-that-be to not drown under regimes. The citizens are hoping for progressive change after a long and suffocating reign under Malaysia’s longest serving prime minister who eagerly dispensed his own concoction for political mileage and continues to preach his own brand of politics that seems so much distant from the world over today.
For a nation like Malaysia that was denied a two-party system for over five decades, it needs a reliable and transparent political leadership. It needs political parties that can collaborate to transform to its next platform of democratic progress.
If when we are just about nearing the bridge that can land us on firmer ground to journey onwards in the best interest of nation, Rulers and people, that bridge starts shaking and threatening to give way, what will the multitudes do? They would end up like the people who cried “By the rivers of Babylon…”.
The question is, if the leaders and veterans within DAP and PAS knew all along that they would not forego their fundamental ideologies, then why fake a marriage of convenience? If you are like oil and water, why bother ever coming together? You are only proving to be most lethal, no?
Go forward, not backwards
DAP and PAS must come to terms with a singular truth, and that is: People want a better future, defined as not only along economic parameters but also one that honors humans’ renewed understanding of freedom, dignity and civil liberties.
They must realize that in this post-Cold War era, fueled by technology and driven at unprecedented speed by information, humanity is experiencing a new wave of liberation from antiquated political ideologies.
There are enough examples to pick up from the four corners of the planet and even precious lessons to be learnt from UMNO’s own bag of struggles these days. Why must the very parties that proclaim to liberate the people from antiquated bondage themselves be entrapped within the confines of their own ideologies and worst, go gunning at each other?
In summary, DAP and PAS if you cannot resolve your differences definitively, please cut the cords and go your separate ways. And if the leaders get to read this Letter, please do and say something decisively before it is too late.
