Right-wing NGOs burn 'Sang Saka Malaya' flag
Fifteen NGOs comprising about 50 people jointly lodged a police report before staging a protest and set the 'Sang Saka Malaya' flag on fire.
The police report was on the offensive behaviour by participants of the 'Janji Demokrasi' gathering who allegedly stomped on the pictures of national leaders and carried a 'new flag' on Aug 30, the eve of Merdeka Day.
Spokesman for the NGOs, Petaling Perkasa chief Abd Hadi Mat Jani, urged the Home Ministry to take immediate action against the culprits.
He said those who had carried the so-called new flag at the gathering should not be let off and must be brought to justice.
"We want the government to take stern action against them for offending Malaysians," he told reporters after lodging the report at the Kelana Jaya police station.
