Carpet thriller: Introducing the ‘shaman’

According to Raja Petra, there is a businessman who plays a central role in the Deepak saga and also serves as the opposition leader's spiritual adviser.
PETALING JAYA: The ongoing thriller, staring Deepak Jaikishan and PKR leaders, has the right ingredients to be a box office or ballot box smash, much to the chagrin of Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor.
The intricate and intriguing plot revolving around how the murder of a beautiful woman and diamonds were swept under the carpet had got tongues wagging.
Now, controversial blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin has introduced a new actor and a supernatural twist to the twisted saga.
According to him, businessman Ravi Dharan had passed the documents regarding Deepak’s alleged purchase of RM13 million worth of jewellery for Rosmah.
The matter was exposed by PKR strategic director Rafizi Ramli, who later revealed that the documents were from Deepak when the carpet dealer kicked up a fuss.
“Now, recently, Rafizi spoke about a ‘third party’ giving him the documents… Rafizi never named this third party though, who is Ravi.
“What Rafizi refused to mention is that Ravi is the man who gave him the documents and hence what Deepak said is true – that he never met Rafizi or gave him any documents,” wrote the blogger.
‘Anwar’s spiritual adviser’
According to Raja Petra, the businessman had been acting as the “secret adviser” of Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim even before PKR was formed in 1999.
“In fact, the party headquarters at Phileo Damansara is owned by Ravi — a man who made his millions through [former MIC president S] Samy Vellu in the days when he was a Barisan Nasional crony-businessman,” wrote the blogger in his latest posting.
Deepak himself had admitted in the past that he was related to Ravi through marriage and it was the latter who introduced the carpet dealer to Anwar.
On the supernatural level, Raja Petra claimed that Ravi had a “panel of bomohs” on his payroll and therefore also served as the opposition leader’s “spiritual adviser”.
“Ravi advises Anwar on ‘auspicious’ dates. And one such auspicious date was Sept 16, 2008, the day Anwar was supposed to have taken over the federal government,” he said.
The blogger disclosed that within PKR circles, Ravi was supposedly known as the “shaman” and party leaders were aware that Anwar would not budge without his spiritual guidance.
Raja Petra also alleged that the businessman was on the Malaysian government’s “watch list”.
“The Malaysian government suspects that Ravi, who has links to the very top in the Indonesian government, is instrumental in the ‘bad blood’ between the Indonesian and Malaysian governments that seems to have become worse of late,” he said.
Rafizi: Raja Petra is speculating
Commenting on Raja Petra’s allegations, Rafizi denied that he had obtained the documents from Ravi.
“Categorically no. My old friend Raja Petra likes to speculate,” he told reporters.
Rafizi said the documents were given to a PKR leader by Deepak some time back, but he did not name the person.
“So Deepak approached PKR per say and that’s how the documents came to me,” he added.
