Muhyiddin ushers in 2013 in BATTLE MODE

SHAH ALAM - Setting the tone for the heated political race expected in 2013, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin spent New Year's Eve urging Selangor residents, whom he said have been "deceived" by the propagandas and promises of the PKR-led state government, to choose Barisan Nasional (BN) at the 13th general election.

The BN deputy chairman said that after four years, people are now aware of the true colour of the state government while BN, on the other hand, has proven its experience in administering the country in ensuring the continuous growth of the national economy.

He said BN is united in implementing national development policies and agenda unlike the PAS-PKR-DAP coalition, Bernama reports.

"We often hear of problems and issues, political arguments among the opposition coalition members," he said when closing the Love Selangor Carnival organised by Selangor BN, here on Monday night.

Among them is the water issue which has yet to be resolved under the leadership of Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

Muhyiddin said the state government must be fully responsible if the water crisis breaks out in 2014.

Also present were Muhyiddin's wife, Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman, MCA Selangor chairman Datuk Donald Lim, MIC president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel and Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Kohilan Pillay of Gerakan.

This morning, Muhyiddin attended a 2013 New Year open house organised by the Information, Communications and Culture Ministry and the People's Progressive Party, at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur.

PPP president Datuk Seri M. Kayveas, who was present, said the party is steering into battle mode with a strategy to secure more votes for BN through its new "510 Mission". The strategy will see 51 committee members from each branch of the party engaging with at least 10 voters per member.

"This will give BN a guarantee of getting 510 votes from each party branch. If we have 10 branches in a constituency, this mission will generate 5,100 voters," he told reporters.

He added that the party has requested for four parliamentary seats in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Perak, Penang and Selangor, as well as 12 state seats to contest in the general election.

"Two seats in Perak and Malacca have been confirmed to be contested by PPP so far," he said.
