Najib dismisses minor stroke rumour

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has dismissed a rumour that he had suffered a minor stroke over the weekend.

Instead, he insisted that he is very healthy.

"So Bursa Malaysia is healthy, while the market is healthy, the sukuk market is healthy, I’m also healthy. So don’t listen to the blogs, please,” said Najib when delivering the keynote address during the launching of the Exchange Traded Bonds and Sukuk (ETBS).

He was responding to an article published on the Sarawak Reportfew days ago, claiming that he had suffered a minor stroke over the weekend.
In its Jan 5 report, the Sarawak Report speculated that this was the result of pressure felt by the premier in view of the recent slew of exposes by carpet trader Deepak Jaikishan, pertaining to Najib and his family.
The Sarawak Report then questions if Najib is “physically succumbing to what must be unbelievable strain or instead, a man who has decided that the game is up and it is time to duck out on good old fashioned health grounds?”

Meanwhile, the prime minister’ press secretary Tengku Sharifuddin Tengku Ahmad rubbished the rumour, stating that his boss was in the pink of health.

“This is all rubbish and I urge the public to simply turn a deaf ear and disregard these rumours,” he was quoted saying in The Malay Mail today.
