GEORGE TOWN, Jan 7 — Land and Mines Department deputy director Saodah Nawawi was appointed the Northern Seberang Perai district officer in a reshuffle, making her the second female district officer in the state.
Saodah’s takes over from Jusni Ismail, who has been transferred to the Central Seberang Perai as district officer, replacing Roslan Yahaya.
In announcing this, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng(picture) said the reshuffle was decided last week during the state executive council meeting.
“The appointment of Saodah shows the state government’s commitment to give equal opportunity to capable women,” he said.
The reshuffle comes after three men, one of whom is believed to be a district officer, were arrested last week in an anti-graft operation.
