PM, 'tsunami' over? Let's wait for next earthquake

YOURSAY ‘It's not due to the opposition that the people are misled, but the ruling party itself is the one creating the doubts.'

Najib has halted 2008 tsunami, says Umno info chief

your sayStarr: Where was Umno information chief Ahmad Maslan in 2008? Umno-BN didn't even have any inkling on the political tsunami then, what makes Ahmad think that he knows what will be in store for Umno-BN in 2013?

When changes swept through the Arab world in the Arab Spring, none of the deposed leaders knew what was happening to their regimes then. That's why they tried to hang on to power until the ferocity of change became unstoppable.

What PM Najib Razak has done since becoming prime minister is only introducing cosmetic changes to the way the country is being run. It's a case of more of the same.

Free and Fair Election: Remember, Najib has never gotten the mandate of the people. I remember Dr Mahathir Mohamad once told the people not to overpraise him as that would make his head swell and lose some sense of realism.

So, Ahmad Maslan, are you being truthful and honest with your boss? Even Najib is not sure of his position or he would have called for an election a long time ago.

Dishing out goodies like there is no tomorrow, and making promises that goodies will be continued till March doesn't speak much of Najib's confidence.

Relevancy: He may have stopped the tsunami of 2008 for BN, but there is another tsunami coming. We will see whether the ‘Rahman prophecy' will end with Najib Abdul Razak.

IK-man: Ahmad Maslan is trying to apple polish, but from what we have learnt from grassroots' feedback, at best, BN has a 50-50 chance.

Wise rakyat will certainly be against all these unhealthy moves like giving RM700,000 to the seven churches in Kedah. Why not give to all churches in the country if they are sincere?

Must all Christians vote for the opposition in order to get such goodies? Now is the time to show BN what change is needed.

Appum: Desperate times facing Umno calls for desperate justifications and self-fulfilling prophesies.

Our great institutions like the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) are absolutely dormant in the face of big exposes, but very alert and active in catching RM30,000 bribes.

Good, act on these small briberies, but please show some sense of responsibility and accountability towards big cases such as the Deepak Jaikishan revelations, the land case of Selangor Umno Wanita chief Raja Ropiaah Raja Abdullah and so many others on the list.

Tsunami over? Let's wait for the next ‘earthquake' that Malaysia is going to experience which we have never seen before in the 55 years of our political bondage.

Anonymous_40c3: Do the scriptwriters for these officials do a reality check? Every pronouncement sounds like a public relations exercise that is detached and inconsistent with current developments.

The frenzy to fantasise continues unabated merely to provide a false sense of accomplishment. In truth, if the tsunami ended then, the general election would have been called a long time ago.

Enlightened: This guy is delusional. The biggest challenge for BN is getting Malay support. The Indians, and to a much lesser extent, the Chinese, are divided in their political leaning.

Ksn: Ahmad, the bigger political tsunami will arrive this year. Be prepared. 2008 was just a warning from Malaysians, but Umno Baru did not take it seriously.

Hang Babeuf: Yes, for the moment, the tsunami is over. Under Najib, his party and the entire nation are becalmed in the doldrums.

Something to be proud of? A basis on which to face the people at elections? Confidently? I think not.

Anonymous #84319416: I agree that the PM has been "trying hard", but what about his subordinates? Are they his ‘followers'? They speak in different voices.

How can you then convince the rakyat? It is not due to the opposition that the people are misled, but the ruling party itself which is the one that is creating the doubts.

You can only convince the rakyat that BN speaks in one voice, but we doubt it will ever happen as it has never happened all these years.

Bystander: If that is so, then why delay the GE till almost the end of term? Ahmad, you are a seriously an ill-informed information chief.

Even your boss is keeping quiet over the issue of the two conflicting SDs (statutory declarations) as well as heaps of serious allegation of corruption in circulation on the Internet.

Have you got a computer yet, Ahmad Maslan? If yes, please log on to the alternative media and update yourself.

Giudice: Does the title ‘information chief' carry with it the ability to lie with a straight face or perhaps the ability to convince oneself despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary?

In 2008, it was a political tsunami. This time, I hope we go nuclear! - Malaysiakini
