Prove payment or stop BN ads, DAP Selangor tells KTM
DAP Selangor has called on Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) to prove that BN Selangor’s Komuter advertising campaign has been paid for, otherwise they should stop running the campaign.
“DAP Selangor urges KTMB to disclose the total payment made by BN Selangor to KTMB for the ‘Sayangi BN’ advertisement and other relevant details, such as duration of advertisement, total unit of trains involved, any discount given for the advertisement and etc.
“KTMB is government-owned and should not be abused by the ruling political parties to advance their political agenda.
“If these advertisements are not paid, we demand that KTMB stops playing the advertisement immediately,” said DAP Selangor treasurer Hannah Yeoh (right) in a statement today.
It was reported yesterday that the Klang Valley Komuter trains have been playing theBN Selangor videos since last month.
KTMB chairperson Mohamad Zin Mohamad, who is also Selangor BN secretary, had claimed that it is a paid advertisement.
Last April, KTMB also allowed BN flags to be put up at its stations in Selangor, a state the BN has repeatedly announced that it is bent on winning back from the opposition in the next general election.
Yeoh, who is also Subang Jaya assemblyperson, also asked if KTMB had charged BN Selangor market rates.
“DAP Selangor will be writing in to KTMB to request for a quotation to display similar political advertisement materials, and we hope that KTMB will be impartial and apply the same standard/service it has accorded to BN Selangor,” she said.
