Shamsubahrin bought 3 cars costing more than RM400,000, court told

KUALA LUMPUR- The Sessions Court here was today told that businessman Datuk Shamsubahrin Ismail, who is facing 17 charges of money laundering, had bought three cars, costing more than RM400,000, from FA Automobile (Ipoh) Sdn Bhd in December 2011.

A sales assistant, Foo Rox Zan, 24, said the cars were a Mitsubishi Grandis, costing RM167,042, a Mitsubishi ASX (RM138,042) and a Mitsubishi Triton (RM101,092).

He said two of the cars, the Mitsubishi Grandis and Mitsubishi AXS, were registered under Shamsubahrin's wife, Suzana Abdul Aziz, while the Mitsubishi Triton was registered under Shamsubahrin's name.

“The Mitsubishi Grandis and ASX were bought by Datuk Sham (Shamsubahrin) on Dec 5, 2011, while the Triton on Dec 9 the same year," he said during examination in chief by deputy public prosecutor Robert Pasang Alam.

Foo said Shamsubahrin paid RM1,000 in deposit payment for each of the three cars, while the balance was made through cheque payment.

He said this when testifying in the trial of Shamsubahrin who is facing 17 charges under Section 4(1)(a) of the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act 2001, involving RM1.755 million.

Shamsubahrin is also facing five charges of cheating former National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) manager Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Salleh, involving the same amount.

Meanwhile, 24th prosecution witness, an assistant registrar at the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM), Roslizawati Nur Wahida Abd Ahmad, 34, told the court that based on the CCM record, Shamsubahrin had been a director of 39 companies.

She also said that NFC was established on Dec 12, 2006 and its directors were Mohamad Salleh, Wan Shahinur Izran Mohamad Salleh, Wan Izzana Fatimah Zabedah Mohamad Salleh and Wan Shahinur Izmir Mohamad Salleh.

The hearing before judge Rozilah Salleh continues tomorrow.
