Zambry denies MIC getting ONLY 2 SEATS
IPOH, -- Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir today refuted claims that MIC will only be getting two state seats in Perak for the upcoming general election.
Zambry, who is also Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, said the claims were mere speculation by certain quarters.
"We (BN) usually operate on consensus concerning seat distribution based on existing quotas (for the component parties) he told reporters here today.
He added that the support of the Indian community and MIC for the BN should not be viewed lightly and what was important that the spirit of partnership in the BN should be upheld.
MIC was allocated two parliamentary seats in the last general election, Tapah and Sungai Siput. MIC's Datuk M.Saravanan won the Tapah seat but its president Datuk Seri S.Samy Vellu was defeated in Sungai Siput.
The party also lost all the state seats allocated to it namely Pasir Panjang, Behrang, Sungkai and Hutan Melintang.
