Dr M wants Rosmah's biography in schools

Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad has suggested that Rosmah Mansor’s biography be distributed to schools as a guide for future generations “100 or 200 years from now”.

"This is to make sure that our children are able to read from the other side as well," he said when launching the 180-page book in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.

"I always say that our leaders should write more about their experiences and observations. This is a good book that will serve as guidance for the next generation 100 or 200 years from now.”

Yayasan Amanah Perdana, the publisher, has positioned this as a book to stifle "lies and jealousy" about Rosmah. 

Mahathir said he sympathises with Rosmah because he too has become a target for lies and attacks over the years.

"I released my memoirs and I wrote the truth about my time as a leader. And yet, people still lie about me," he said.

He also noted that Malaysians do not write enough, which leads to insufficient information on the nation's history. 

"Whenever I want to read about history, there's not enough reference books because the people in the past did not record their experiences," he said.

The full colour book details Rosmah's journey from her youth (photo) to her current position as wife of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

The book was scheduled to be released in January but has come out only now due to printing delays for which Rosmah was not responsible, according to the publisher.

Written by Siti Rohayah Attan and Noraini Abdul Razak, the book costs RM150. Proceeds from sales have amounted to RM500,000 to date.
