Fans of Chong Wei remember Rosmah's 'EVERLASTING HUG' of ill luck

Fans of Chong Wei remember Rosmah's 'EVERLASTING HUG' of ill luck
KUALA LUMPUR - It looks like Malaysia's First Lady Rosmah Mansor has left a 'lasting' legacy to her country's ace shuttler Lee Chong Wei.
Almost exactly a year ago, the wife of Prime Minister Najib Razak had flown over to London to cheer on Chong Wei in the Olympics final against China's Lin Dan.
But the brash and rather unpopular Rosmah was blamed - rather unfairly - for Chong Wei's failure to capture the gold after a 3-set thriller, where Lin Dan had used his superior height, strength and thunderbolt-like smashes to maximum advantage.
Bad vibes that stay
A year later, the limelight-loving Rosmah - perhaps having learned her lesson - decided not to utter a word. This despite the excitement and hype in the badminton world over the latest Chong Wei-Lin Dan encounter.
Yet despite her hush-hush and alertness to keep a low profile this time, the blame and jokes are beginning to come in on Twitter. Yes, sad to say many believe Rosmah is again to blame. They say it is her fault!

'Everlasting' hug of bad luck?
Fortunately, Rosmah who is a patron of the Badminton Association of Malaysia is unlikely to be fazed by such unwanted attention. After all, she has been accused of much worse including involvement in the country's most sensational murder case ever.
So what's another loss from Chong Wei, who already has a terrible track record against Lin Dan.
At least this time, Rosmah can pass on the blame to Chong Wei's shoulder injury. The Malaysian ace and world No.1 had to walk away when the score stood at 21-19 6-2 in Lin Dan's favor.
In last year's Olympics, the plump but youthful-looking First Lady of Malaysia had received little thanks from citizens when she decided to rush over to London to help 'motivate' Chong Wei.
Not only did Malaysians here berate her for wasting public funds and accused her of sneaking in a shopping spree while in London, they also called her names.
The more polite described her as Rosmah the Jonah. Others were blunt and some outright rude by insisting that she was Rosmah the evil jinx!
Najib comments on LCW's loss
Be that as it may, such is the passion that Malaysian badminton fans feel for the game and their heroes.
Even Rosmah's hubby found time away from his prime ministerial duties to commiserate with Chong Wei.
There is pride in defeat against such a formidable opponent. Well done, @Lee_C_Wei  - Najib Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia
What other leaders say
Other prominent citizens too sent their regrets and urged Chong Wei not to give up.
We are w u, Dato' “@Jenn_Thompson: Congratulations to Lin Dan but respect d spirit of Dato' @Lee_C_Wei - Nurul Izzah
kesian melihat Lee Chong Wei cedera di akhir perlawanan. But semangat juangnya tinggi!  - Nik Nazmi, assemblyman for Seri Setia
LCW still a champion in our eyes. - Ambiga Sreenevasan, Bersih co-chair
Well dan, Lin Dan. Great effort LCW. Why was the air con switched off just for the men's final?  - Khairy Jamaluddin, Sports Minister
Lee Chong Wei again lacks of a bit of luck, lost to Lin Dan. LCW must be feeling very painful at his legs at d end of d show - Teresa Kok, MP for Seputeh
