KOTA KINABALU: A 29-year-old man from Sandakan was found dead near a bush near Kampung Binaung Baru in Menggatal.

The body of Ibnu Paharan was found some 50 meters from where his Toyota Unser car was left abandoned next to a water tank near the village.
According to City police chief ACP Jauteh Dikun, the police had gone to the place to check on the deceased’s car which was found abandoned there, after receiving reports from villagers.
“Police earlier took the vehicle back to the police station to run the vehicle’s registration, which showed the car belonging to the victim’s nephew in Sandakan.
“Police then went back to the scene to comb the area and found the victim’s body among bushes with his hands and leg tied together and gagged with a cloth,” he said.
Further investigation also found several wounds on the victim’s neck and head believed inflicted with a sharp object, said Jauteh.
