OMG!He can't respect democracy, is a racist:Yet, Dr M wants to be a beacon for World Peace!
KUALA LUMPUR - Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad the former longest serving Prime Minister of Malaysia has launched the “Mahathir Award for Global Peace” at a ceremony graced by African leaders and Malaysia’s First couple.
World, better sit up and listen will ya! Never mind the fact that the event failed to coincide with US President Barack Obama’s forthcoming tour of Malaysia.
As reported by the reliable national news agency, BERNAMA, Mahathir predicted that “the future generation has a role in building peace” and that he prayed that “God willing, the world will see peace, instead of war.”
Admonishing others – which also is one of his trademark qualities, Mahathir is reported to have said that as an effort to promote peace candidates in every election worldwide must pledge “not to resort to war”.
Anything but a man of peace
Wait a minute. How shall we deal with this latest stunt of the former Prime Minister who in a serial fashion ensured and still leaves no stone unturned in making sure that his deputies never make it to succeed him?
And for those who are sanctioned for the Prime Minister’s chair, for some reason including the lack of a better choice, are forced to vacate unceremoniously (as in the case of Pak Lah) or nudged to a cliff as in the case may be with Najib currently who is facing a battle in the up-coming UMNO-Baru general assembly.
Even as we can gather from the long on-going Royal Commission of Inquiry on the Sabah IC scam and scandal, how could Mahathir even plan an Award for Global Peace when he butchered the very foundation principles of peace from Malaysia?
Does he not still concur with the citizens that by giving out thousands of citizenship to illegal and fly-by-night immigrants he has robbed this nation of democracy?
And yet he wants to be the beacon for World Peace.
The Tun announced that "God willing, the world will see peace, instead of war". Let the aging Tun be told instead that God is always for peace. The “God willing” part should not be shoved onto the Almighty Creator’s yard as that responsibility falls flat on humans and especially leaders of nations whom the people placed their trust upon.
God gave humanity peace from the very dawn of life; it is leaders desperate to stay in power and keep their legacies who pawned it!
Cannot even get past 'democracy', yet Dr M wants to be a beacon for World Peace
Was it not Mahathir who argued consistently and vehemently in many of his writings, jottings and splurges in the media that Malaysia cannot practice democracy and is in need of the ‘managed democracy’ that he crafted out throughout his long tenure of over two decades of iron grip on the nation?
The Newtonian paradigm within which Mahathir has been operating and still wants to shove down the throat of gullible global communities has long since ceased. Today the world is rising to form a new world order – economically and politically, driven by the forces of the 21st century that thinkers like Danah Zohar ascribe as the Quantum paradigm.
Thriving on chaos, the middle-out is the growing phenomena that is already challenging the world of Mahathirsm-like politics. This is evident as we witness the uprisings in nations like Egypt, Syria and others.
Freedom, liberty and humanitarian values are the features of this new renaissance that ignited the world since the advent of the internet and the services of the world-wide-web together with the breakthrough in the web of human communication.
In a nutshell two points are glaring. One, the Tun is outdated with his ‘Award for Global Peace’. Secondly, he certainly has timed out the ceremony given his track record and the world’s aversion for his mantra of politics.
Not to mention, being the country's Bapa Racis (Father of Racism)
And let the Tun also swallow this truth with humility: For as long as UMNO-Baru continues to divide this nation of people using race and religious parameters in order to cling to power, there will be no peace in Malaysia. We will suffer economically, socially and politically while the world races ahead to the next launch pad of progress, development and transformation.
Yes, Tun you are right on one score at least, when you also said at your Mahathir Award for Global Peace Ceremony that “the world is getting more democratic”. Well what you may have missed though is the fact that world is not just getting more democratic but is burrying undemocratic leaders into oblivion.
And so, Malaysia will not be the exception even though UMNO-Baru wants to cling to power "over dead bodies and crushed bones" as Spring -be it the spring of econmics, the spring of social liberation or the spring of politics; that 'Spring' will arrive on those shores where there is resistance to freedom and civil iliberties.
