Parent: OCPD's denial of student questioning is a lie

A parent whose child goes to SK Seri Pristana has refuted Sungai Buloh OCPD Junaidi Bujang’s denial that police did not interrogate pupils at the school about the use of a shower room as the canteen.

NONEThe marketing executive, who only wished to be known as Raj, 39, claimed his nine-year- old daughter was questioned by police officers twice, within the school compound, between July and August.

"She (the daughter) was so scared after being questioned by the police that she cried, and does not want to go to school any more.

"The OCPD is telling a big lie," Raj claimed.
He said nine other parents had also complained that their children were “harassed” by police.

"How can they (police) talk to our children without our presence?" he asked.

Raj said this at a joint press conference today with other parents, NGOs and Subang MP R Sivarasa.
Memo sent to Education Ministry, but no response
Malaysian Tamlian Today secretary K Gunasekaran, who was also present at the press conference, said besides the parents’ report, NGOs have lodged three other police reports on the matter.

Gunasekaran said his organisation, together with several NGOs, submitted a memorandum to the Education Ministry on Aug 20, urging the authorities to take action against the school headmaster Mohd Nasir Mohd Noor.

However, he said, there was no response to this.

NONEGunasekaran said he visited the school canteen after the revelation about the pupils being forced to use the shower room during recess, and he found no renovation for the canteen as claimed by the school.

“It was only changing some doors and windows,” he said.

SK Seri Pristana was embroiled in a controversy during Ramadan last month when a parent exposed that the children were made to eat in the shower room during their recess.

Mohd Nasir (above) explained that the shower room was converted into a meal room as the canteen was too small.

He said it was used by non-Muslim students during Ramadan as the canteen was under renovation then.
