"Recycled product" Shahrizat: You've made a WRONG MOVE - Fuziah tells Najib
VIDEO INSERTED KUALA LUMPUR - MP for Kuantan Fuziah Salleh slammed Prime Minister Najib Razak for not keeping to his pledge for greater transparency and integrity by bringing back into the national leadership Shahrizat Jalil, the scandal-tainted Umno women's chief.
"This may be a bit blunt but I don't see the point of releasing a recycled product, especially using taxpayers' money. Even as minister she failed to bring (forward) the agenda for women so what is the value of putting her as adviser on women's affairs?" Fuziah told reporters on Wednesday after a meeting with the MACC.
She was part of a group of top leaders from PKR or the People's Justice Party led by Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, who had met with Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission chief Abu Kassim Mohamed to exchange views and discuss ways to cut graft in the country.
“Her appointment contradicts Najib’s position. She resigned from her ministerial post in good faith, and he should have left it at that. It reflects badly on the PM’s personal integrity on addressing issues of corrupt personalities,” Fuziah added.
Political 'asset'
News that Shahrizat would be making a political comeback had stirred an uproar. The Umno leader became notorious after her family was exposed as being involved in misusing a RM250 mil government soft loan meant to finance the activities of the National Feedlot Corporation,
Shahrizat was forced to surrender the Women's Minister post at the height of the NFC scandal last year. However, according to the Umno grapevine, she is still able to command 30% support from the Wanita wing.
This makes her still an 'asset' to party colleagues including Najib who might be called upon to defend their positions at the Umno polls due to be held in October.
