Soi Lek mocks those 'sent by god to save MCA'

MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek has dismissed the Save Party Committee 3.0 –  which launched a campaign to topple him – by mocking its members as "god-sent saviours of MCA".

NONE"MCA is more than 60 years old, anyone could (claim himself to) save the party. (If) just a few people are able to save the party, then I think they are not (ordinary) human beings.

"They are the saviours, sent by God to save MCA," he told reporters yesterday.

Last week, the Save Party Committee 3.0 and eight MCA division chiefs had initiated a campaign, urging the party’s disciplinary board to take action against Chua.
They alleged that Chua had defied the party’s stand in shunning government posts as he was still the Penang Port Commission chairperson.

It was reported that the Wangsa Maju division had submitted a complaint letter against Chua to the party’s secretary-general Kong Cho Ha and a copy was also given to disciplinary committee chairperson Michael Chen.

Asked about the possibility of facing the disciplinary committee, Chua replied: "No problem, no problem".

However, he suggested that the committee should also call, among others, former MCA president Ong Ka Ting, vice president Dr Ng Yen Yen and former central committee member Wong Nai Chee to attend the hearing as well.

Ong was appointed as Malaysia's ambassador to China, while Ng was appointed as Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board (MTPB) chairperson and Wong is the political secretary to the prime minister.

Previously, Chua had clarified that the party’s stand of not taking any government post was only restricted to posts that recommended by the party.

He explained that it did not include the posts recommended by the prime minister and ministers and those who were appointed before the 13th general election were also not affected by the decision.
