PJ councillor issue is resolved, says MB’s pol-sec.

It's an old issue and Kandeah's performance as councillor has been resolved by MBPJ, says Selangor MB's poliltical -secretary Faekah Husin.
PETALING JAYA: The Petaling Jaya local council (MBPJ) has resolved the issue of local councillor Kandeah Subramaniam’s alleged poor performance and abuse of power as accused by community groups, says Selangor Mentri Besar political secretary Faekah Husin.
FMT in trying to get a clearer understanding of the on-going issue brought up by community groups, received an e-mail reply from Faekah stating that this is ‘an old issue and MBPJ resolved the matter some time ago’.
“As to Kandiah’s performance as councillor, a full report has been given to the MB of Selangor Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
“That’s all I can reveal as I am not privy to the report concluded by the Petaling Jaya mayor, sent to the Selangor Mentri Besar,” said Faekah.
When FMT requested for a direct response from the Selangor MB regarding the concluded report, her reply, again by e-mail was, ‘Sorry, I don’t think so’.
Community groups had voiced  their dissatisfaction with local councillor Kandeah for failing to solve problems faced by low-cost flat residents located at Section 8, Kota Damansara.
Friends of Kota Damansara (FOKD) chairman Jeffrey Phang when contacted said that Kandeah had failed his position as councillor and had not been helpful in resolving issues faced by the residents.
The residents had complained of poor maintenance and the decaying facilities of the flats.
Phang alleged that Kandeah, in some cases, worked against the residents and even attempted to derail discussions and community programmes intended for the benefit of the community.
Two complaint letters, no response.
The NGO chairman had sent two complaint letters to the Selangor MB in 2011 and again in Nov 2013 highlighting the local councillor’s abuse of power.
He pointed out that till today, he has yet to get a response and claims that the MB’s office has been evading the issue.
Two days before the general elections, in May 2013, Jeffrey lodged a police report at the Kota Damansara police station against the local councillor for the abuse of his position.
Kandeah, nominated under the PKR quota in 2011 to replace his predeccesor a Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) member, had caused quite a stir at that time.
It is understood that Kandeah’s term as a councillor will end at the end of this year and local NGO groups want him to be replaced with a competent councillor who is able to assist in resolving pressing issues faced by the community in the Kota Damansara area.
