August trial for raw water transfer from Pahang to Selangor

The Pahang-Selangor raw water transfer project is expected to be fully completed on December 20, Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili (pic) said today.
The project, which comprised four components – raw water tunnel, Kelau Dam, Sungai Semantan intake and pump house, and twin pipeline, was 96% completed, he said.
"In early August, we will channel some 500 million litres a day to Sungai Langat which has three water treatment plants," he said after visiting the project site.
The trial move is aimed at increasing the water volume because the country was expected to experience a dry spell from June because of the El Nino effect.
When completed, 1.89 billion litres of water a day will be transferred from Pahang to Selangor to meet the needs of consumers in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya up to 2025.
