Hisham: If Mah doesn't work I'll monitor him

DAY 6 TELUK INTAN What’s happening in the by-election campaign in the parliamentry constituency of Teluk Intan? Quotable quotes, planned events and unplanned incidents as they take place.

9.30am: Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein attends an interactive session with some 100 veteran militants at UiTM Teluk Intan campus in Jalan Changkat Jong.

In his speech, he says BN is leading the country to a more prosperous stage and there is no reason for voters not to support its candidate Mah Siew Keong.

"Mah has been a close friend of mine since 20 years, and he is a hardworking and dedicated leader.

"Gentlemen, don't worry if Mah does not work well, I'll monitor him on behalf of you," he quips.

Earlier, the organiser questions the presence of journalists at the function saying the media is not invited for coverage.

"We received this invitation last minute, and we thought it is (Home Minister) Ahmad Zahid's event," says a journalist who did not want to be named.

However, media is eventually allowed to stay for the function but no press conference is held.

At 11am Hishammuddin is scheduled to visit Kampung Padang Tembak, a Malay village where DAP candidate Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud was heckled earlier this week.
