Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has called for an investigation into a Facebook user, who has mocked the Muslim call to prayer or azan.
In a Twitter posting, the youth and sports minister noted that extremists existed among all races and if the posting was genuine, it must be probed.
The Facebook posting in question substituted the Arabic words in the Azan with the names of Pakatan Rakyat leaders and that of former Bar Council president S Ambiga.
"We need to call out extremists. Like we call out Isma (Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia). All around," Khairy (right) noted.
Responding to other Twitter users, the minister said this case deserved to be investigated, adding that there should be "zero tolerance for race and religious hate speech."
One Twitter user, Aji Kedi, had told Khairy that the investigation should begin with Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali.
Chiding the Umno Youth chief, he also blamed BN cybertroopers for the Facebook posting on the azan.
"This is a cheap trick by BN cybertroopers to tarnish Pakatan. For you to go this low does not become for someone of your calibre. Seriously," he added.
Meanwhile, another user, Brian Gomez, remarked: "How about, we don't investigate either Isma or this guy, and everybody just grow the hell up?"
