BN candidate for the Teluk Intan by-election Mah Siew Keong has said that he cannot be held accountable for the promises made by ministers in his absence.
Commenting on the slew of pledges made by BN ministers during the ongoing campaign period, the Gerakan president said: "I wasn't there. Those were their promises. Not mine."
"They (the promises) are not in my manifesto. I only put what I think I can do, as a MP," he added.
However, Mah said if BN was wrong to make election promises, then Pakatan Rakyat had also erred in doing the same during the last general election.
"Pakatan said if they won, they will lower petrol price. What about that? Is that not the same?" he asked.
Among the promises made by BN ministers in the course of the campaign include:
Mah's manifesto also includes the promise to build more WiFi internet hotspot zones in Teluk Intan.
Come Saturday, the veteran politician would be facing DAP candidate Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud in a straight fight for the parliament seat.
The seat fell vacant following the death of DAP's Seah Leong Peng on May 1.
