PAS will not work with Umno in Selangor, vowed its deputy president Mohamad Sabu today, a day after Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim sacked six DAP and PKR executive councillors from his government.
Mohamad said there was no way for PAS to work with the Barisan Nasional (BN) component party in Selangor and, at the same time work, with Pakatan Rakyat (PR) in other states.
"PAS will stick with PR," he said, shooting down talks that the Islamic party will join hands with Umno in the ongoing Selangor menteri besar impasse.
He stressed that PR still holds the majority in Selangor to retain the state government despite Khalid's move to fire the six executive councillors.
Khalid kept only four exco members from PAS after the dramatic falling out with his former party PKR, which is seeking to remove him as menteri besar.
Mohamad, popularly known as Mat Sabu, said sacking the excos was Khalid's call.
He said it was normal in a fight for power in politics.
"PAS is with PR. There will be no split. Khalid is an independent.
"Selangor is not the end of the world," he said, adding that it is also normal for partners to have differing views.
Mohamad also said there are many details he does not know as he has been in Penang since yesterday.
He is attending his sedition trial over his Bukit Kepong controversy at the Butterworth Sessions Court this morning.
"Like you, I am also learning the developments from news reports."
Mohamad said PAS will have its political bureau meeting tonight and another meeting on August 17.
Asked what they will be talking about, he said various issues will be discussed.
"MH17, Palestine and other issues," he said.
