Anwar to blame for starting Selangor crisis, says Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad says the ongoing crisis in Selangor is the fault of the PKR de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who wants to be the next prime minister. – The Malaysian Insider pic by Nazir Sufari, August 16, 2014.
Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has blamed Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the ongoing crisis in Selangor and accusing the PKR de facto leader of trying to conquer Putrajaya.
The former prime minister said he had no doubt that Anwar was the main culprit behind the Selangor menteri besar crisis.
"The entire saga started with Anwar initiating the ‘Kajang move’. He wants to become the prime minister," Dr Mahathir said.
"However, Anwar needs support in order to realise his ambition. Hence, the Selangor menteri besar position is a stepping stone for him."
A bitter dispute is taking place over the MB post in the wealthiest state in the country between Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and PKR, which sacked him and wanted to replace him with party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
