PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang decided to take a different stand from Pakatan Rakyat on the Selangor menteri besar issue as opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had hurt his feelings, said a PAS Youth delegate.
Kelantan delegate Nur Azariza Mohd Alwi said Hadi's stance should be supported as PAS's top leader knows Anwar well.
He said Hadi took a divergent stand due to decisions made by Anwar which obviously went against the opposition coalition consensus.
"Hadi had known Anwar for decades, who are we to question his decision?" he said when debating at the PAS Youth muktamar in Kota Tinggi, Johor today.
"Hadi is upset with Anwar when the latter announced a few things that went against the Pakatan consensus.
"This included the Kajang move which was decided without Pakatan consensus. Hadi's reaction is due to the actions of our friend."
He said Kelantan PAS had defended the governments of Selangor, Penang and Kelantan which are currently under Pakatan administration.
"Kelantan will be with the president and the ulama leadership," he added.
Meanwhile, Terengganu PAS delegate and Tepoh assemblyman Abdul Karim expressed his disappointment with Youth chief Suhaizan Kaiat who did not openly support Hadi.
Suhaizan's "gentleman's politics" was also criticised as he was seen as being in line with Pakatan youth leaders.
"We are worried that only PAS is seen as gentlemen but our partners are not. This was proven when PKR youth chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad was being very rude towards Hadi," he said.
He said that although Nik Nazmi, Suhaizan and their DAP counterpart Teo Kok Seong had recently met with Hadi, the former still had not let up on his criticism against Hadi.
“What's the point of meeting the president when he is still making statements that hurt the feelings of our youth members?” he said.
He said he hoped Suhaizan would look into this as there were worries that the wing under Suhaizan might put aside Hadi in its close relationship with its other Pakatan partners.
"I hope our youth chief can look ahead, in the situation where we think we are a gentleman, we are seen as not acting in a gentlemanly manner towards our president.
"I am still waiting for his official statement to openly support the president's speech," he added. –TMI
