Super high tide forces 73 out of homes in Kelantan

Seventy-three residents from 16 families living on the coast of Pulau Kundur near Kota Bharu were evacuated to a temporary relief centre at the Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Pulau Kundur following the occurrence of exceptionally high tide last night.

Operations Officer at the Kota Baru Fire and Rescue Station, Senior Officer II Ayub Mustafa, said all the victims were evacuated since 8pm last night as the waves hitting the coast had entered into their homes.

"This was the second time that the residents there were evacuated after the first incident last month," he said when contacted by Bernama today.

Last month, more than 70 victims were evacuated to a temporary relief centre following the phenomenon which destroyed eight houses in the area.
