Contest against me in GE, Rafizi dares IGP

PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli has challenged inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar to contest against him in the next general elections.
He said if the police chief is so keen on playing politics, he should challenge him in the Pandan parliamentary constituency.
Apart from this, he is also considering suing Khalid over his remarks regarding the handcuff saga.
"On @KBAB51's (Khalid's Twitter account) statement accusing me of play acting, I will discuss with my lawyer to take legal action.
"If the IGP wants to play politics, come stand against me in Pandan," he tweeted soon after being released on bail.
"I will release a statement refuting @KBAB51 in a moment. I repeat: The officer's instructions was given in front my lawyer," he added.
Yesterday, Khalid denied that Rafizi was handcuffed during his detention. Photographs also emerged showing the PKR lawmaker with his hands behind his back but with no handcuffs.
This led to accusations that Rafizi was pretending to be handcuffed in order to gain sympathy.
His lawyer refuted this, claiming that police officers had instructed his client to keep his hands behind following his arrest on Tuesday.
However, Khalid dismissed this as "cooking up fairy tales to confuse the public".
This morning, Rafizi claimed trial to two charges under the Official Secrets Act 1972 following his disclosure of a classified document last month. -Mkini
