MALAYSIA TODAY EDITOR RAJA PETRA’S BLOG ATTACKED

(Malay Mail Online) – Raja Petra Kamarudin’s blogMalaysia Today was attacked yesterday, resulting in it being down for almost an hour from 11am.

It is learnt the blog was attacked following an article he wrote about Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), which apparently got the anti-Najib group riled up.

Raja Petra has been defending Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak from allegations from foreign newspapers and the opposition in the country over the 1Malaysia Development Berhad issue and the RM2.6 million banked into his personal account.

Raja Petra assumed what he had written about the group’s plan to implicate the prime minister in the RM2.6 billion scandal before the present BNM’s governor ends her tenure at the end of this month could be the truth.

“This never happened to me before. I probably I hit the right nail, which made them (the group) so angry they came after my blog,” he said.

He said the attack on his blog was called a 404 attack, similar to a DDOS attack where more than a million hits were done simultaneously, which downed the server.

“Such attacks are normally conducted professionally and the cost is high,” he said.

“I suppose the group which attacked my blog are professionals and have lots of money. I learned the attack was from Indonesia. It happened around 11am (4.00am UK time), the time when I begin my work.”

Raja Petra said his technicians then shifted to a server in another country and his blog was up again within an hour.

The opposition is now getting support from former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and suspended Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in a bid to get more than a million signatures to force Najib to step down.
