Najib arrives in Istanbul for OIC summit

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak arrived in Istanbul today to attend the 13th summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Najib and his wife Rosmah Mansor arrived at the Sabiha Gokcen International Airport in Istanbul at 7.45am (12.45pm Malaysian time).
They were greeted on arrival by, among others, Foreign Minister Anifah Aman and Malaysia's Ambassador to Turkey Amran Mohamed Zin.

The prime minister is scheduled to deliver his speech at the summit tomorrow and share Malaysia's stand on issues on the agenda of the meeting.
The OIC summit, held every three years, is preceded by a preparatory meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers on April 12 and 13 and the Senior Officials Meeting on April 10 and 11.
The participation of Malaysia, one of the founding members of the OIC, demonstrates its strong commitment to continue to play an active role in the organisation and contribute to the progress and well-being of the ummah.
The summit is expected to outline measures in the outcome documents for implementation by the OIC member states for the betterment of the member states and the ummah.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Najib will witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding and agreement between Tenaga Nasional Bhd and the Turkish power company Gama Enerji on cooperation in the field of electricity supply in Turkey.
Najib is also scheduled to launch the passenger lounge and a new boarding hall expansion project at the Sabiha Gokcen airport, which is wholly owned by Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd.
