Pandikar must resign as not all reforms accepted

DAP lawmaker Lim Lip Eng wants Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia to resign, after only three out of four of his proposed parliamentary reforms are accepted by cabinet.
"He had said he would resign if no reform at the first session this year. So, if he refuses to resign, then he at least should cut 25 percent of his salary," Lim told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.
"This is not to humiliate him but to send a message to Najib that he means business, that he wants the fourth proposal by BN and the opposition MPs to be accepted," Lim said.
Cabinet had rejected Pandikar’s proposal to form a committee on consideration of bills.
Lim pointed out that Pandikar had also wanted to have an expenditure committee and a committee on the order of business, but failed to convince the government on this.
Senior minister Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz today tabled a motion on the parliamentary reform agenda today, the last day of the current session.
The three reforms tabled in the House are a 30-minute minister's question time every Tuesday and Thursday, setting up a special chamber to discuss motions and cutting down the 14-day notice period for motions to 10 days.
