Lorry rams
PETALING JAYA: It was a close shave for a cashier, who escaped with minor injuries after a lorry rammed into two toll booths in Malacca early this morning.
According to The Star, the 38-year-old victim, identified as Nur Farazilah Yunus, was manning one of the booths at the Ayer Keroh toll plaza when an eight-tonne lorry went out of control before hitting it.
The lorry driver, Aziman Mat Ya’acob, 34, from Kuala Lumpur escaped unhurt, while Nur Farazilah sustained minor injuries on her left hand.
PLUS’s southern region manager Rozi Ibrahim told the English daily that Nur Farazilah had just reported to work at 6am, about an hour before the incident happened.
The other booth was empty at the time of the incident at 7am.
Rozi also estimated losses of up to RM200,000 in damages.
Alor Gajah OCPD Superintendent A Asmadi Abd Aziz said police were now reviewing the CCTV footage to facilitate investigations. The driver, he added, has since been detained.
