Dr M blog post reveals personal agenda, says Rosmah’s aide

Rizal Mansor questions if former PM and his new party have vested interest to protect friends, businessmen from paying tax, and from contracts with Proton.
Rizal MansorPETALING JAYA: Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s latest blog post seems to reveal that he and his newly-formed party, Parti Pribumi Bumiputera Malaysia (PPBM), have a personal agenda, says an aide to Prime Minister Najib Razak’s wife.
In a Facebook post, Rizal Mansor, the aide to Rosmah Mansor, said that the former prime minister had claimed that Najib wanted to end cooperation between Proton, the national car maker, and businessmen who are aligned to the former prime minister.
In his blog post on Wednesday, Mahathir had alleged that even Proton staff were barred from speaking to him, while businessmen known to him were prohibited from doing business with Proton.
Malaysia’s longest serving prime minister had also claimed in the same blog post that people aligned to him, especially businessmen, were being harassed by the Inland Revenue Board.
“Is his struggle and that of his party (PPBM) merely to look after the rights of business owners known to them, and to help these friends to avoid paying taxes and to do business with Proton?” Rizal questioned.
He said he was confident that Proton will be professional in its dealings with suppliers and contractors and make procurement decisions based on best price and top quality.
“There is no need for Proton to choose suppliers or contractors merely because they had links to the former PM.”
Mahathir had yesterday claimed that Najib wanted to “bankrupt” Proton as the project was initiated by him.
Mahathir is the founding chairman of PPBM while former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassing is the president and former Kedah menteri besar Mukhriz Mahathir is the vice-president.
