Commuters affected can get refunds or coupons for the following day's journey.
KUALA LUMPUR: Refunds are available for commuters if their scheduled LRT and KL Monorail rides are late by 15 minutes, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nancy Shukri said in the Dewan Rakyat today.
In a parliamentary written reply to Koh Nai Kwong (BN-Alor Gajah), Nancy said a coupon replacing the journey for the following day would also be available to affected commuters.
“The same policy will apply to the new MRT routes, which are expected to begin operation by end of this year.”
Koh had asked if Prime Minister Najib Razak planned to follow in the footsteps of the United Kingdom and Japan, by implementing a compensation mechanism for public transport users.
This, he said, was to ensure the efficiency of LRT and MRT services.
Several LRT and MRT delays have been reported throughout this year, with the latest affecting the LRT service at Kelana Jaya, resulting in hundreds of early morning commuters stranded at the station.
