ROYAL SHOCK FOR NAJIB: SULTAN NAZRI GIVES FIRST INDICATION OF UNEASINESS, TELLS PAK LAH TO PLAY ‘BIG BROTHER’
Perak’s Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah says former prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi could play the role of an “elder brother” instead of observing politics from the sidelines.
“Filling up his retirement days, Abdullah has chosen to be an observer of politics.
“The people respect your choice.
“However they will not give up hope that you would continue to play the role of ‘elder brother’ who would give advice and support, so that the bent can be straightened, the muddy to be made pristine,” said his highness.
Sultan Nazrin said this when launching the book Being Abdullah Ahmad Badawi – The Authorised Biography today in Kuala Lumpur.
Present at the event was Abdullah, along with guests Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and his wife, the Perak Raja Permaisuri Tuanku Zara Salim and the book’s author Wong Sulong.
The Perak sultan said the progress and success of a nation depends on how its leaders have integrity and high moral standards.
He cited the example of the US in the run up to its presidential election, where the people expect and value the highest standards of integrity of their candidates.
“We will continue to be in a good situation as long as we have figures who have integrity in our midst, as compared to those who do not have such figures,” said Sultan Nazrin.
Abdullah’s biography charts his background and the former prime minister’s journey through politics and premiership.
