(MMO) – Former Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Husni Hanadzlah had never raised any concerns regarding 1 Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) during Umno’s Supreme Council meetings before, council member Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said today.
Reezal, who is also Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, said that he and several other supreme council members had raised the matter before during meetings, but Husni had remained silent.
“I have raised the 1MDB issue before, but I have never heard him raise the issue before,” Reezal told reporters after attending the launch of former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s new authorised biography here today.
Husni, who resigned from the Cabinet in June, last week raised a series of questions about 1MDB while speaking in Parliament.
“He has the right to ask questions. But to reveal things that was collectively agreed upon (in cabinet) is not fair,” he said.
Husni is also being probed under the Official Secrets Act (OSA) 1972 for allegedly breaking secrecy laws while debating the 1MDB issue.
He said that Cabinet members have a “collective responsibility” and decisions made while in the cabinet should not be used when one leaves the administration.
“I was also a Public Accounts Committee (PAC) member before. I knew what was happening inside and out,” he said.
“But when i was appointed as a government member, I held onto my current responsibility and duty,” he added.
