Three arrested over Bersih biker assault

Police have detained three red shirts supporters for allegedly attacking a Bersih supporter in Sabak Bernam yesterday.
Selangor police chief Abu Samah Mat said the three suspects were detained after the Bersih supporter lodged a police report.
"Although we have arrested three men, we are still in the midst of viewing the video to ascertain those behind the assault
The trio were detained under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting. If convicted, they face up to two years jail, or a fine, or both.
“We will initiate the necessary action on whoever incites violence.
"Unfortunately, at these rallies and gatherings where one side is in direct conflict with another, we anticipate these things to happen but as police, we will act if there is any wrongdoing," Abu Samah was quoted as saying by The Sun.

Yesterday, red shirt supporters attacked a Bersih supporter after the electoral reform group's convoy from Teluk Intan to Sabak Bernam.
The biker who was on their way home when he crossed into area where the red shirts area was egged, and later kicked twice.
The first kick to the back sent the man sprawling to the ground.
Police intervened not long after that and escorted the man to safety.
Red shirts leader Jamal Md Yunos had defended the violence, saying his follower were provoked, and blamed Bersih instead. -Mkini
