Kayamboo’s family to receive RM400,000

Defence minister also promises a new set of dentures for the mother of the late RMAF pilot, which Kayamboo had promised her.

GEORGE TOWN: The late Major Kayamboo Chellam’s family will receive RM422,000 in contributions from the defence ministry and the National Heroes Trust Fund (Perwira), minister Hishammuddin Hussein announced today.
The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) pilot was killed when his plane crashed at the Butterworth air base on Wednesday.
“Kayamboo’s family members will receive his earnings in advance, the insurance payout, and other payments totalling RM422,000, which will be given out in stages.
“Kayamboo’s wife S Usha, 42, will receive a pension amounting to RM2,300.
“As for the three injured, they will receive RM10,000 each,” the defence minister told reporters after visiting the widow at home in Sungai Nibong, Bayan Lepas, here today.
Earlier, Hishamuddin sat down with and assured Kayamboo’s family that his ministry would do what it could to assist them during this difficult time.
Hishammuddin also promised to pay for a set of dentures for Kayamboo’s mother, M Indra Devi, 65, after she told him that it was what her son had been going to do for her.
Before leaving, Hishammuddin embraced the family members and told them that Kayamboo had served Malaysia well.
Also present were Air Force chief General Affendi Buang and Defence Forces chief General Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor.
Kayamboo is survived by his parents, wife, four sisters and four children.- FMT
