DAP's Yeo Bee Yin takes on Bakri, Teo Kok Seong moves to Bahau

GE14 | As speculated, DAP today announced Damansara Utama state assemblyperson Yeo Bee Yin, a Johor native, as the candidate for the Bakri parliamentary seat.
The announcement was officially made by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng at an event in Muar, Johor today.
Bakri is currently being held by DAP’s Er Teck Hwa.
Lim also announced that DAP Johor organising secretary Ng Yak Howe as candidate for the Bentayan state seat.
Bentayan is a state seat under the Bakri constituency, which DAP has held for two terms. Its current state assemblyperson is Chua Wee Beng.
Er won Bakri from MCA in the 2008 general election, and defeated MCA again in 2013 with a 5,067 majority.
DAP also wrested Bentayan from MCA in 2008, and won it again in 2013 with an increased majority of 6,847.
In his speech, Lim thanked Er and Chua for their contributions to their respective constituencies over the past years.
He praised both of them for willingness to give up their seats to the new candidates, and sacrificing to enable the party to move on.
"I cherish their contributions. They sacrificed themselves to allow our campaign to move forward to achieve our goals.
"Er has announced he will help the new candidate. On behalf of DAP, I thank Er and Chua," said Lim.
Teo Kok Seong for Bahau
Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan DAP chief Anthony Loke today announced Rasah MP Teo Kok Seong will contest the Bahau state seat in the coming general election.
He said this is a strategy to win the Jempol and Kuala Pilah parliamentary seats, as Teo is an established leader who can help DAP lead the election campaign in the eastern part of Negeri Sembilan.
Teo was also present at today's announcement.
Loke said Teo would definitely be appointed as Negeri Sembilan exco member should he win Bahau and Harapan win the state.
Teo, who is a Bahau local, later told Malaysiakini he will not be defending the Rasah parliamentary seat as well, so he can give full attention to his present mission.
"I have an important task to not only defend DAP's Bahau state seat, but also to help the party achieve a breakthrough in the eastern part of Negeri Sembilan," said Teo.
Bahau is a state seat under the Jempol parliamentary constituency. Its current assemblyperson is Chew Seh Yong. According to Loke, Chew will be fielded elsewhere.
Teo first won Bahau in 2008 with a 837 majority, and then contested the Rasah parliamentary seat in 2013 and won with a 23,485 majority.
Negeri Sembilan comprises 36 state seats, with BN winning 22 seats, DAP 11 seats and PKR 3 seats in the 2013 general election. -Mkini
