MCA president Liow Tiong Lai has spoken out against calls for the party to quit BN.
Liow said doing so would only "lower" MCA's status, according to an interview with Sin Chew Daily.
Instead, he added, BN should dissolve.
"BN is no longer capable of garnering the people's support, there is no more value in the coalition.
"Dissolving BN is the appropriate course of action. Not for MCA to quit BN," he was quoted as saying.
Liow added that it was now irrelevant to discuss whether MCA should quit BN.
"BN now only exists in name, so there is no point of discussing whether we should quit or not," he said.
Liow added that the remaining BN component parties can then function independently and only cooperate when the need arises. - Mkini
